We are now recruiting a Leadership Trainer (with or without Care Sector experience), to join the team. The aim of this position is to design, develop and deliver high-quality leadership and possibly, care training, to the private, voluntary, and independent adult social care workforce in Hertfordshire and other counties that we engage with. It is an exciting position for you to extend your leadership and training skills. You will primarily be training managers and proprietors of care organisations on leadership topics. If the successful candidate also has a Care Sector background, we will add Care Governance and advanced Care Topics to the portfolio.

Hertfordshire Care Providers Association (HCPA) is a unique award-winning company set up to support adult care providers to raise quality standards of care. We are a non-profit member’s association. We work in partnership with Hertfordshire County Council and support over 700 care organisations to improve the quality of care they provide across a variety of projects such as staff training and providing information and guidance. We are currently expanding and working with other counties. We also provide additional services and projects such as Recruitment, Impartial Feedback services and the Stop Falls Campaign.

What does the role of Senior Care Leadership Trainer involve?

You will be working within a small team, you will be delivering training to care managers and other care staff on subjects related to general leadership skills, recruiting and retaining the right staff, and more.

Your day-to-day duties will include:

  1. Work with the strategic management to understand the needs of learners and create and implement development plans to address both short- and long-term requirements, focusing on addressing any skills gaps and meeting the needs of our members.
  2. Design, prepare and deliver care and leadership level training courses to meet quality assurance requirements.
  3. Learn all current courses within the HCPA offer and deliver these to HCPA standards with passion and enthusiasm.
  4. Support learners to complete coursework
  5. Take responsibility of own learners by guiding them through the training end ensuring timely assessment of any associated coursework.
  6. Support providers who require tailored solutions to training staff
  7. Input into manager forums, including some presentations face to face or virtual.
  8. Learn and implement the hybrid training system which is set up in our training centre, training learners both face to face and virtually at the same time on a course
  9. Work with the team to ensure all training is planned, booked, communicated and recorded efficiently.
  10. Work with the Quality Team to ensure all courses are linked to appropriate qualifications and standards.

Am I the right person for the Leadership Trainer position?

Strong care management experience is required so that you will be credible when delivering training to managers and business owners. You will also need to have:

Essential Skills

  • Completed a Certificate in Education and Training, or a minimum of Award in Education and Training. If you have not completed this, then a willingness to complete this early on in employment.
  • An aptitude for research and developing new courses relevant to our sector. We pride ourselves on referencing our materials.
  • An excellent standard or spoken and written English
  • Engaging presentation skills (this will be part of the interview process)
  • Own transport with insurance for business use is essential for this role as travel around Hertfordshire may be required.
  • Previous experience of training delivering training to managers.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Be excellent at autonomous research.
  • Adaptable: training may be within the HCPA training centre and may also be courses that need to be delivered at a client’s site or alternative venues.

Desirable skills

  • Experience in working at leadership level in adult social care: e.g., Registered Manager.
